Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
