Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
